Varanasi: Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW), formerly known as BAREKA, will close all its entry gates from 2 pm on Tuesday until the conclusion of Ravana Dahan as part of special security arrangements for Vijayadashami.
The gates to be closed include the Kakar matta main entrance, FCI Gate, Nathupur Gate, Pahadi Gate and Kandwa Gate. During this period, railway employees will be permitted to enter the premises only upon presenting valid identity cards, while members of the public attending the Ramleela performance and Ravana Dahan must carry valid entry passes.

The administration said the restrictions have been introduced to regulate crowds, ensure public safety and prevent any untoward incidents during the festivities.
Ramleela and Ravana Dahan celebrations
The Vijayadashami celebrations will be held at the Central Sports Ground within the BAREKA premises on October 20. The programme is scheduled to run from 4.30 pm to 8 pm and will feature a grand Ramleela performance, followed by fireworks and the burning of effigies.

The event will be attended by BAREKA General Manager Ashutosh Pant as the chief guest.
The celebrations will feature effigies of Ravana, standing 70 feet tall, Kumbhakarna at 65 feet and Meghnad at 60 feet. The traditional ceremony symbolises the victory of good over evil and righteousness over unrighteousness.
The BAREKA administration has appealed to railway employees and the public to follow security instructions, carry the required identification documents and entry passes, and cooperate with officials to ensure that the celebrations conclude safely and peacefully.
